A Celebration of Motorsport, Unity, and Rwandan Hospitality
What a moment to remember! From December 9–13, Kigali stood at the center of the motorsport world as we proudly hosted the FIA General Assembly and the 2024 FIA Prize Giving Ceremony right here in the heart of Africa. This wasn’t just an event; it was a celebration of Rwanda’s growing voice in global motorsport, and a testament to how far we’ve come together as a community.
🇷🇼 Kigali Welcomed the World
Over 1,000 international delegates including world champions, FIA leadership, motorsport officials, and partners were welcomed with the warmth and elegance Rwanda is known for. From the opening ceremonies to the closing gala, our guests were immersed in Rwandan culture, hospitality, and innovation.We were honored to see our streets lit up with FIA branding, our venues buzzing with excitement, and our own RAC team playing a key role in every corner of the event.
🏆 And the Winners Were…
At the prestigious Prize Giving Gala, champions from all corners of motorsport were recognized from Formula 1’s top drivers to karting,cross car,WRC, WR2C,WEC,World RX car ,Formula E and rally heroes. It was surreal to see Kigali become the backdrop for this moment, broadcast globally and putting Africa’s motorsport future firmly in the spotlight.
The presence of FIA President Mohammed Ben Sulayem and the Honourable President of the Republic of Rwanda Paul Kagame alongside Rwanda’s Minister of Sports,Richard Nyirishema, emphasized the strength of our partnerships and our readiness to do even more.
🤝 What It Means for RAC & Rwanda
This wasn’t just a week of trophies and tuxedos. Hosting the FIA Awards has opened doors for stronger collaborations, increased international visibility, and renewed energy for motorsport development across the continent.
For RAC, it’s a proud confirmation of our ability to lead. It’s also a springboard to inspire more young Rwandans to dream big, to grow our e-sport initiatives, and to continue pushing for road safety, innovation, and inclusivity in all we do.
